Dr. Tara Morris
Dr. Tara Morris graduated in 2015 from the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) and also holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from the U of C. Since graduation, she has worked in general practice here in Calgary.
She enjoys all aspects of general practice but loves her time in dental and soft tissue surgery and developing lasting relationships with her clients and patients. From navigating a new, young addition to the family to ensuring that the golden years and end-of-life care are thoughtfully and lovingly tended to, Tara fully cherishes that time with the family and pet. Also dear to her heart is addressing the mental health struggles this industry faces and being part of a clinic that is a haven for veterinary health workers to thrive and love their careers once more. As a UCVM teaching-clinic instructor, she advocates for strong leadership and mentorship within the industry and the upcoming generation of vets.
Born and raised in Calgary, she is excited to be part of a thriving partnership and to have a locally owned-and women-led practice in her hometown. Tara navigates her exciting and somewhat busy life with her husband, feisty daughter and border collie mix at her side.
Dr. Jess Ouellet
Dr. Jess Ouellet has always felt a deep connection with animals, and it seemed only natural that she would become a veterinarian. She first obtained an undergraduate degree in Ecology from the University of Calgary and worked as a field biologist and parasitologist. She then graduated as a veterinarian in 2013 from the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduating from veterinary school, she has worked at over ten general practice clinics and two large emergency hospitals within the Calgary area. Dr. Ouellet is committed to teaching and coaching the next generation of veterinarians and technicians and has spent time in the NWT as a sessional instructor with UCVM students to provide routine care and surgeries to companion animals in remote communities.
During her years in practice, Dr. Ouellet has developed a special interest in dentistry, neurology, and dermatology. A born and raised Calgarian, Jess is the proud mother to two active young boys, a bossy Border Collie and a stubborn German Shepherd/Malamute. The family enjoys spending time outdoors together. Jess and her husband enjoy all outdoor activities in her spare time, including mountain biking, skiing, running, backpacking, canoeing, and hiking. On occasion, she can be found relaxing with a good book.
Elle parle couramment anglais et français.
Dr. Emma Jackson
Dr. Emma Jackson is a 2022 graduate from University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Zoology also from the U of C. She has an interest in primarily feline and canine medicine.
She has spent the last two years working in small animal emergency/general practice & shelter medicine throughout Calgary. Originally from Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Northeast Alberta, she has a passion for improving access to veterinary care for Indigenous communities which has led to many unique opportunities including starring in a TV show called Wild Rose Vets.
In her spare time, she plays on multiple different volleyball leagues throughout Calgary or can be found heading out to the mountains for biking or skiing. Of course, she also plays what seems to be endless fetch with her Golden Retriever, Cider.
Karley Bertolin
Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT)
Originally from New Brunswick, Karley graduated as an RVT from Oulton College in 2020. She has one feline fur baby named Pickle who came in as a stray at her last clinic. Karley couldn’t resist taking her home and now they have travelled across Canada to move to Calgary together. They can often be found cuddling on her days off. Karley also worked as a emergency RVT for the first 3 years of her career and is excited to expand her knowledge into general practice!
Madison Erickson
Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT)
Madison has been a licensed technologist for 2 years after graduating from Olds College but has always been around animals. She started off being a veterinary receptionist and assistant while she was in grade 10, prior to that though she was working at an equine barn and jumping and riding horses and continues to pursue this. She has 4 cats and 2 dogs at home, a very full house, while also trying to foster as many animals as she can! She loves every part of this job but has always loved teaching and ensuring clients feel as comfortable as they can going through their pets’ health journeys.
Nicole Raposo
Tech Assistant
Nicole has always had a special love for animals and their well-being since being a young girl. While living abroad, she found a new interest in animal healthcare after volunteering with an animal rescue to socialize and rehabilitate street cats. After switching careers from the fine arts and disability, she has been in the veterinary industry for a year and hopes to return to school to further her education in animal health. Outside of work, Nicole spends most of her time training as a competitive powerlifter, outdoors with her 2-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Ham, or playing the piano and painting.
Ella habla ingles y español.
Faith Bundt
Tech Assistant
Faith graduated from Bow Valley College in May 2023 with a certificate in Veterinary Office Assistance. She has always had a huge passion for animals her entire life, so she is incredibly excited to start her journey in the veterinary field at Village Vet.
She is the proud owner of two cute cats, Friday and Moo. Outside of the clinic she has a green thumb and has discovered over the past few years a great love for gardening and houseplants, so her collection is getting pretty big. She also enjoys playing video games in her spare time. Spending time with her family and friends is also very important and she truly cherishes every moment with them. She is also always up for adventures like hiking, biking and camping as long as there are some good tunes playing!
She is very excited and happy to be a part of this awesome team at Village Vet!
Sheena Wallace-Sharkey
Reception
Sheena grew up in small town Ontario, where her passion for animals began. She moved to Alberta as a teenager and after starting her animal work experience in the pet stores of Calgary, she knew she wanted to take a step forward within the animal industry. Sheena was grateful to be given an offer in the first veterinary clinic she ever worked at in 2006 and her heart has never left the industry, though she did briefly, to own and operate a small dog daycare for 5 years. Sheena is passionate about client care and communication. It is an honour for her to be able to establish those close long-lasting relationships with clients and their furry family members and being able to support them in any way possible. She has done many hours of continuing education on client communication and relations. Mental health is also near and dear to Sheena’s heart; she is currently enrolled in a continuing education certification course to help those dealing with burnout and compassion fatigue.
In her free time Sheena enjoys spending time with her husband, listening to music, singing, writing, reading, and getting out of the city life to their trailer and around the fire as often as possible. She is happily owned by her 2 black cats Luna and Cipher and Fable her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.
